Application of Fe-Impregnated Biochar from Cattle Manure for Removing Pentavalent Antimony from Aqueous Solution

This study assessed the applicability of Fe-impregnated biochar derived from cattle manure (Fe-CMB) as an adsorbent for removing Sb(V) aqueous solutions and investigated adsorption mechanism. Fe-CMB was mainly composed C, O, Cl, Fe, Ca, P, onto identified using energy dispersive spectrometer Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. reached equilibrium within 6 h, data a function time were well described by pseudo-second-order model. The Langmuir isotherm model fit better than Freundlich maximum capacity obtained 58.3 mg/g. Thermodynamic analysis indicated that process exothermic spontaneous. removal percentage increased with dose, which achieved 98.5% at 10.0 g/L Fe-CMB. Increasing solution pH 3 to 11 slightly reduced 6.5%. inhibitory effect anions on followed order: Cl− ≈ NO3− < SO42− HCO3− PO43−.
